    Great notebookI really like this notebook. It's very nice quality even for the low price. The cover is nice and pages are thick. My only problem is the book mark ribbon isn't that great. It frays even after I tried burning the end but that is small. Overall a great notebook. 5What is going on Redbook? Still great product but why the minor changes?I have used Redbook note pads for many years. They are excellent; almost perfect. This I know: the quality of the paper is beyond anything I have use. I have a minor habit of buying one of almost every type and brand of paper that I can; yes this is an addiction. Cold press, hot press, full 100% cotton (looking at you Southworth), blends of cotton, computer paper, et cetera you get the idea. I love paper and I love pens. I don't have anything important to write. I just write. After years of this the various note books on my shelfs look nasty (anyone OCD). Then I discovered Redbooks. Hardback (my choice) looks so amazing when displayed. The thing I really like is that there has never been a change to the design. I love that. Oh, the paper is amazing! So smooth, doesn't bleed through, and is acid free. My issue with this particular model is....they changed the inside. Instead of a calender, index, conversion charts (Imperial standards are UNACCEPTABLE; praise be to METRIC), and subway maps of cities I will never be able to afford to go to they...they...they made it contain inspirational quotes. If I am buying a Redbook I do not need inspirational quotes! Did I mention I hate change? Please Redbook, stay true to your nature. I pay for a unique product, the only thing that I can afford to be a BRAND. A brand that provides jobs in Poland, that has grown with me, that I have learned to love. With so many things changing in our lives please be my anchor Redbook. 4Great beginner's fountain pen notebookI just started a new semester this year and need a hard bound book for my biology lab. I had recently gone on to collect and use fountain pens and I read on Reddit that this notebook is the best for fountain pens when you are on a budget. When it came in the mail, I noticed that there was a very small dent on the bottom right corner but nothing too crazy that would knock off a star. I have been doing my lab write ups with this book and so far it has held up really well and exceeded my expectations. The ink I use is a really wet J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir with a medium sized japanese nib and the pages take the ink like a champ. There is no bleed through whatsoever and I was incredibly impressed. However, I do have to mention that the dry times with this paper was a lot longer than others that I have tried. Overall I think this is a great budget friendly fountain pen notebook. 5Quality Book Marred by Tacky QuotesI've used these books for years, and I enjoy good inspirational quotes, but the way these quotes are displayed in oversized letters on the front and back inner cover pages is extremely tacky, unprofessional, and unwanted. Having "NEVER GIVE UP!" in a tacky font at the bottom of ALL of those pages is unnecessary, redundant and annoying. Imagine having a friend who shouted at you "NEVER GIVE UP!" every two minutes. You'd tell them to shut up. I want a professional book to keep important info archived. I do not want a self-help book with giant quotes. The maps and measures in previous editions were so much better and more useful. My solution: tear off the inner covers, and use the book with its quality pages and binding. I really wish they would remove the tacky quotes in the future. A five star book reduced to two stars due to these annoying quotes -- which were NOT displayed in any of the products' photos! 2cheapened with their 'inspirational' quotesjust what i want for an archival product. too big to be portable; office use only. sufficiently stiff back to write anywhere. pages are lined all the way across with no side margin markers. binding stitching is fine, book lays flat. however, i will buy first competitive product out there [for next order] that does not have any of the 'inspirational' quotes. the quotes are BS all the way: st francis of assisi - not my faith and i have no interest in what he says. ben franklin quote - complete waste of a page. mark twain quote - seriously, i'm using this for business and would appreciate a more professional appearance - put my own company sticker over it. lewis carroll - suspected pedophile; thomas edison - electrocuted animals. these quotes belong in a rehab manual not a business records journal. also, there appears to be no way to get the front sales/upc label off the front other than covering it with another sticker. at this price, buy them, otherwise - look around some more. 3Excellent Notebook, Worth Buying........ See Photos~I bought this black n' red casebound notebook (E66857) almost a year ago for just under $3. I ordered it for my husband thinking it'd make a nice notebook for work but he refused to 'waste' it because it's too nice...I've since inherited it (quite happily) and use it to jot down notes from important calls. I used to write things on post-its or random papers before getting more organized with a single notebook (and electronic notes).This product is made in Poland. It is the nicest notebook I've owned; I can't attest to owning any expensive ones. I have been provided with some nice notebooks from management jobs but this has the best paper stock of those I've owned.The paper is sewn in so this isn't good for tearing pages out of but it is great for a book of information you want to keep together. It also has a red ribbon page divider making it easy to keep your place.The cover is also quite sturdy and solid. They include a date planner to highlight appointments, I use it as a perpetual calendar for birthdays (I've grayed out our family birthdays in the photo I posted). You could use it as a tiny planner but I keep a separate planner because I don't carry this. It's not light enough for me to want to carry it daily (nor do I need to).There are also maps and travel information I don't really use but are nice. Uploading some photos so you can get a closer look. Very well made notebook. Smile. Hope this is helpful! 5Champagne Book On a Beer BudgetNot sure why the price is so low in comparison to other hardback notebooks but I'm not gonna complain! This notebook is just an absolute joy to write in. The paper is smooth (but not too smooth) and takes ballpoint, gel, MICRON pens, and fountain pens beautifully (gel and fountain pens need a few seconds to dry so the ink doesn't smear). Also pencils.Probably crayons too, I just haven't tried them. ;-)Actually, there's not a lot I can say that others haven't. OH! How about: sweaty hands do not cause the red cover to smear and stain. In case you were worried.Standard ruled paper means there's room for me to re-write above the original; no margins means it feels like there's a ton more room to fill. The cover is strong enough that the book is just fine to use unsupported. The book opens flat on a table which I really like. The pages are sewn together. They're not gonna fall out.I came back to buy several more - just in case they stop making them. They're slightly longer and slightly narrower than regular old 8.5 x 11 paper but that actually feels better to me. 5Really enjoy these notebooksI tend to use a lot of notebooks and I've tried many different types. I recently found a great small one for my daily needs, but as a writer, I needed something larger. Especially when working on something more involved (like a book for example), I always prefer to have the outline written out physically so I can go back to it easily, work on it anywhere, keep organzed, jot down random thoughts, and so on.While I've tried others, none have really fit my needs (or they've been far too expensive for me to even consider), and I always end up going back to the same old convenience store spiral notebooks. The problem with those, as anyone who uses them will know, is the paper itself isn't the best quality, and with all the flipping back and forth I do when working on something, pages will end up ripping, falling out, etc., and it turns into a big mess.Now to this book. First off, the pages are really good quality. The paper is thick and I've been able to use both sides with absolutely no bleed through (using a gel ink rollerball pen). Using the same pen with other notebooks, there's no way I could use both sides of the paper and still be able to clearly read it.Another aspect I love about this is the hard cover. It's very sturdy and does a great job of protecting the book, making it even easier to carry around and use anywhere. I tried bending the book around the way you would with a spiral notebook if you were to work on only one page. I was able to, although I probably wouldn't suggest it because I assume it would wear out a lot quicker and weaken the backing. (I did notice the same company offers spirals. I haven't tried those yet but do intend to at some point).There are a few little extras that don't really influence how useful I find the notebook, but are nice to have. A ribbon to use for a bookmark, a date planner and table of contents area in the front, and a few maps in the back.I'm very satisfied with this book and glad I ordered two. I've already been using it to work on something on an almost daily basis, and have no complaints yet. Even better is the affordable price compared to some of the other better quality options available. I definitely intend to continue using these books and will likely try out a few others from this company in the future. 5Ugh. The useful front and back pages have been replaced with motivational quotesI have used these books for decades. I'm a scientist and these books are always on our lab benches, etc. In the past the books had handy information inside the cover. It has varied over the years and all the information wasn't always useful to me but a lot of it was useful. Whether I used the information or not it made sense to me why it was there. In my most recent delivery these helpful pages have been replaced by large pages of motivational quotes and trite words of encouragement. Like "The secret of getting ahead is getting started," and "NEVER GIVE UP." Did you know "ENERGY AND PERSISTENCE CONQUER ALL THINGS!"?" This is really annoying. Six pages in the book are dedicated to this drivel. 1Great notebook, just not quite as great as beforeI am on my 5th Black -n- Red Casebound notebook. They are my go-to notebook for work. I have used them for several years and they are high-quality.However, in the most recent version, they removed the maps from the endpapers and replaced them with Successories (tm)-type quotations. While I didn't use the maps every day, they were useful for general reference to look at a US map or a global time zone map or even local transit maps. I will have to cut those pages out of an older notebook and tape them in to my new one. 4
