Customer Reviews

Poor Quality - Will Not Work If Stacking ThemI have owned two of this particular bin for more than ten years. I kept 40 pounds of dog food in the bottom bin and 40 pounds of cat food in the top bin. It took ten years for the weight of the top bin to slowly crush the bottom bin to the point the door would no longer close. I purchased two new bins from Amazon intending to replace my old, sagging bins. After stacking the bins and putting a 40 pound bag of dog food in the bottom bin and only one 20 pound bag of cat food in the top bin, I was amazed to find that in less than 24 hours the bottom bin was already beginning to crush under the weight of the top bin. Upon further investigation, I found that the original bins I purchased ten years ago have the name BLITZ embossed to the left below the door. (see photo) On the newer Bergan containers, the BLITZ is gone. My conclusion is that the original bins were more sturdy and showed the word BLITZ on the front. Bergan has since started selling these and made them with a much thinner construction. These Bergan bins are not half as sturdy as the old bins. Mine are being returned as soon as I scoop 60 pounds of food out of them. 1Great kibble storageWe have several of these to store pet food, since each of our dogs eat different types of kibble. We needed something that would fit in our pantry, with easy access to the food (I did not want anything I had to unscrew, lift, unlock, or use 2 hands to open). These bins have been completely functional and durable for us over a couple of years so far.I am not currently using these in a stacked configuration, they are side-by-side under my lowest pantry shelf. I have found that they are much easier to fill---with less spillage out the front door---when I have them sitting on their "back" instead of their "bottom." In the photo below, you can see that I have it filled with the "top" facing outward: the door then swings left instead of right. My one star off is because the easy-open door is perhaps just a little TOO easy to open---my dogs can do it! I absolutely do not want to use any locking feature (it has a ring on the door that could be used that way), because that would make it inconvenient for me to hassle with; but if the door just had a slightly harder "snap" closure that would be perfect. 4Paper-thin corners.Plastic is paper thin at corners.I almost poked a hole through a corner with my index finger as I removed the feeder from the shipping box.Design is great and I'd readily order a second one if it was molded correctly. Not worth the hassle to return it.Held it up to kitchen light and took pic inside feeder. 2Wish is was better. Less than a week old and already falling apartGood idea but the plastic is extremely weak. We have used them less than a week and the bottom bin is already buckeling. There is less than 35 lbs of food in each bin. There is no reason for this. I have already had to rotate them because the door was getting hard to open on the bottom one due to it being smashed by the top one. Sadly it was a waste of money. 1Workable, but far from perfect.Having two large dogs mean you go through a lot of dog food and because our two dogs have different food we needed a way to easily organize their food in our pantry. We wanted an easy to use setup that would allow us to keep our dog food accessible, and not make the process of feeding our dogs more difficult than it had to be. We bought these units after researching that they would be large enough to hold 24lbs of kibble and they have lived up to that need. The units are stackable, and the tilted doors appear to make it easy to refill them as needed, though I can tell you now that unless you're a gifted weightlifter it is extremely difficult to pour 24lbs of dog food into these units as they sit. The food will pile up in the front and if you're not careful will overflow onto the floor. I personally unstack the two units we have and then place them on their back sides with the doors facing up to refill them. This works well enough, though you must then restack them back to their location. Were the filling problem their only downfall I would have given these units 4 stars as they met the needs I had. Unfortunately the biggest problem is that while they are stackable they are not capable of holding the weight of a stacked unit! We have two units stacked and the roof of the bottom unit has already caved in under the weight of the upper unit, which at most has 30lbs of food in it. While the cave in is relatively minor (only about 1/2" on the front right corner) it has caused the top unit to be uneven which means we cannot put anything on top of it as it would slide off.The doors themselves open and close fine, and while they have a rubber seal and clipped latches I would not trust them to be air tight or keep out a naughty dog while you're not around. We keep our bins in a pantry with a handle closed door but I do feel that a medium to large sized dog would have no trouble opening these on their own.Lastly they should provide stickers to label the boxes, or at least a flat, un-textured area on the front where you could apply a label. When anyone other than our family looks after our dogs we have to tell them which bin is for which dog since we cannot label them. The stickers we have tried have just fallen off.Overall, these units are usable, but have enough flaws I would recommend looking for other solutions. They work for us for now, but I do not feel confident they will be a permanent solution. 3Holds 40lbs + of pine cat litterI use this to store pine pellet cat litter. I receive it in 40lb bags and this easily holds more than one full bag. I appreciated another reviewer's recommendation to lay the container on its back to fill. Excellent tip. I do wish it came with a reversible door, or the option to order left-hinged or right-hinged doors. The handles make it easy to move and carry. I keep other supplies on top: scoop, bags, etc. Nice to have everything in one place. 5Thin PlasticAs a lot of the reviewers noted, the material is pretty thin on these bins. I have the original Blitz version from over 10 years ago and this one is nothing like it in terms of quality. I personally would not feel great stacking another bin on top of it, just with my finger pressure I can press the stacking corner inward easily.I bought the size 65 and it does not stack onto my Blitz 100. Maybe the Blitz 100 has a different dimension, they only share the same width and not depth. So I can only fit 2 (front 2 or back 2) of the "feet" in the holes. I would question if different sizes can really stack on each other perfectly as the dimension of different size don't match.Overall this works for my purpose. Since I am only putting it on top of my existing much sturdier bin the flimsiness is not an issue. With 2 feet lining up when stacked it doesn't slide around too much so it is acceptable (I'll probably add some non slip pads to make it better later). I am just not impressed with it. 3Great concept, poor qualityThe plastic is way to thin to be stacked on top of each other. I bought 2 of these for my dogs (2 different foods) The container on the bottom collapsed from the weight of the top one. They were bother filled with the appropriate weight standards of the containers. Unfortunately now I need to get different ones since these are useless now. 1Containers collapsed with 60 lbs of dog food in them.I recently bought 3 of the 100 lb containers and filled them with 60 lbs of dog food in each. Since the advertisement indicates stak-n-stor, I stacked the 3 containers together and within 45 minutes I heard a loud noise. I proceeded to look in the garage and discovered $200 of dog food all over the floor along with collapsed containers from stacking them.I am very disappointed in the quality of the product and would like to better understand what the true limitations are. Here's the description from the internet advertisement:- Bergan's Stack-N-Stor unit (24 Gallons) can handle all your storing and organizing needs- Multi-use stackable storage containers that store and organize all materials used for pets; attractively designed for the home- Stak-n-Stor 100 is the largest of our three size offerings with a capacity of 24 Gallons of dry food- This product includes one storage unit | other sizes sold separately | all size combinations stack with each other- Bergan products are designed to help you enjoy an active lifestyle with your pet 1Keeps Pet Food Neat and FreshKeeping the pet food cupboard clean was a chore - kibble was always spilling out of the bag when we'd scoop out some food. This container fits nicely into the cupboard (I did have to remove a back half-shelf) and keeps the dog food neat and fresh. We have a big dog, so we normally buy 40# bags of food, which fits easily into this size bin.Edited to add: I see a lot of reviews complaining and moaning about how many pounds of material this will hold. It depends on the size and weight of the material - I can easily fit a 44-lb bag of Canidae dog kibble into one container, and could probably fit another 6 lobs for an even 50. That brand of dog food I buy is small and dense. Larger and/or lighter kibble will fill it differently, perhaps only 30-40 lbs. 5
