    Torture thy name is this heated matress padThe reviews on this one were so good I selected it. If these are microwires then I would hate to see regular size ones. Some were most likely 1/4 inch in diameter. They dug into my back and hips and I am not a lightweight. Says DON'T BUNCH UP. That is an impossibility. It warmed fast is only good thing I can say about it. I am returning it the very next day. A painful night's sleep. If you are into sleeping on spikes then this is the choice for you. Herman Munster and G'pa would love it! 1So I returned it and specified I wanted the newer model like the other oneI bought 2 of these for my boys Christmas. Got 2 different kinds. One was clearly an older model by the look of the dial. We plugged them in and the older one didn't work. So I returned it and specified I wanted the newer model like the other one. I received another old model. It works this time do I'm just going to keep it. To avoid hassle. I won't be ordering from them again. 2Nice but has some issuesSeems to be working fine after a month but the control is so bright in a dark bedroom. The instructions say not to cover the control but we had to as it was keeping us awake. We used a folded peice of light-weight scrap paper lightly taped to the top. Much better now. But these heated mattress covers don't seem to last more than 1 1/2 seasons before they quit working. We are very careful to follow the instructions to the letter when washing them. It seems that the wire connnector to the plug at the foot of the bed becomes loose over time and then an error message appears on the control and then no heat. We reconnect it and it works for a night or two. Also, the wires can be annoying to feel at night. 3This works great for meI looked at both heated mattesss pads and heated blankets and decided the pad would be better after reading what the electric blanket industry recommended. A pad contacts more skin area and pressing against the skin better than a blanket, also heat rises, which makes them more effective than a blanket, and they don t slip off of you while you sleep like a blanket can.I was scared to purchase this (or even an electric blanket) after reading all the negative comments from every single brand and design I looked at...and I looked at a LOT! I took a chance on this one, and it s worked great for me. When I turned it on and placed my hand on it, I couldn t feel the heat like I did with my old electric pad and electric blanket. That scared me. Then, I crawled into bed. Ahhhh, the warmth radiated up everywhere my body touched this thing. It s weird, like it only heats where your body touches it. But even if I move a leg or arm, there is warmth; no cold spots. It s so different from the old models I grew up with, but I m loving it. In fact, we hit the upper 20 s the other night and I was shivering before I got in bed. Then I warmed up quickly and had to in fact turn it down several times. I didn t need it in high all night long. I eventually had it down to #4 and stayed toasty warm. Hated getting up and leaving my warm bed.As for durability, I can t say. I ve only had it a few weeks. Praying it lasts several winters at least. But, as I mentioned before, all the negative reviews (on EVERY brand electric blanket and pad) had me concerned how long it will truly last. Everything made these days seems to have a much shorter life than things made in my youth. Probably done on purpose so we have to keep buying their products often. AND it s all made in China, so you know it s done cheaply. Crossing fingers, toes, & eyeballs it lasts a few years. My old electric blanket, and electric pad were still working after 20 years but I was afraid the wires were getting old and brittle, and maybe dangerous, so I decided it was time to chunk them. Hope I made the right decision. 5Roll The Dice, You May Win But Mostly You'll LooseBiddeford has huge quality control problems.This mattress pad barley heated some areas of the pad & didn't heat other ares at all.One of the controllers turns off after 10min.The controllers I received are not the ones pictured.I am returning the pad.I would ask for a replacement but after my experience and those of many others, I have no confidence that Biddeford has the ability to provide me with working pad and that it will reliably continue to work in to the future.Buying from Biddeford is the same as flipping a coin. You may win or you may loose but the odds are heavily weighted on the loose side.It's a real shame that US companies can't make decent products anymore. We used to be the best in the world. 1Good heat selection...Our previous heated mattress pad seemed to have 3 settings: hot, hotter, and well-done. This Biddeford Heated Mattress Pad has a generous heat selection, from very mild to hot, and everything in-between. We turn it on about an hour before bedtime and the bed is comfortable when we hop in. Automatic shut-off is a nice feature for our hectic mornings. Highly recommend. 5Wonderful warmthHow wonderful to get into a warm bed again! My old pad hadn't worked right for several years and I don't know why I waited so long to replace it. I was put off some by so many negative comments, but finally just "bit the bullet" and ordered this one. Still concerned about the electronic controls and would much rather have the older kind, but there just didn't seem to be any choice.Anyway, my feet are not being shocked anymore with a stone cold bed. And I don't have to turn it on hours ahead of time. I'm a happy camper. 5My mom had this in her guest room and I liked it. That is why I bought itThis does just what I want it to. You could practically use it for a night light, which is not what you need at your bedside. I put a couple of post it notes over the front and have learned to live with it. I had an E on the control at one point, but through research found out that it was an error code that meant the plug was coming loose from the warmer. 4Definitely a must haveWell totally impressed right off the bat for the following reasons - 1.)the placement of the plugs in the actual mattress pad are a great design feature over all the others we have purchased the last 15 years they direct the cord down and you can't feel or see the plugs. 2.)The LED controls sit nicely and securely on your nightstand are easy to use and read and they don't look bad either such a big improvement over the kind we used to have the kind you have to pick up and hold in your hand there was never enough weight to them and they would always slip off and end up behind the dresser... these just sit there- love that! 3.) This sucker heats up fast - the most important feature!!The wires in this are noticeable if you were to lay on just the heated mattress pad but we have it directly on the mattress then we have a thin mattress protector over it that protects our mattress from dust mites and liquids then we have a regular mattress pad over the top right under our sheet which is our normal set up and we don't feel the wires one bit. Would definitely recommend purchasing just from our 1st week of use especially in comparison to all the others we owned over the years but will update after a couple months worth of use. 5I love this product!I love crawling into my bed on a cold winter's night. It was everything I was looking for in a heated mattress pad. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was because it is a bit thin and you can definitely feel the wiring. 4
