Works as one would expect
Bought these to use with olive oil. They work great! Simply save an old wine bottle of your choosing, then clean the bottle out, and fill with a cooking oil of your choosing and top the bottle with one of these, and presto - you have great oil bottle ready to coat your skillets when cooking!
5You get what you pay for
***UPDATE***I ate my own words and went with OXO brand pourer. My first review was 3 stars but now after having them for a week I am downgrading to 1. I'd give 0 if I could. They leak at some point no matter what you do. The seller would not honor a return on this but thanks to Amazons great customer service they issued a full refund and I get the honor of putting these in the trash. I like this design better than the OXO brand but the OXO is 100% functional. You have to press the rubber against the metal bottom of the pourer or it will leak. I almost returned immediately until I found that out. Want better quality? OXO has one for $6 for a single pourer. Mine came in an already opened, unmarked, plastic bag so it loses some stars for that as well.
1Looks good, but pops out immediately after.
I didn't like the material that was used to make the portion that goes into the bottle neck. It's some kind of polycarbonate that is very slippery rather than rubber-like material that should allow it to stay in place. Even when I attempted to improvise the design, it still would not stay in place but was quickly forced out by the air pressure built up inside the bottle.
1bartender's perspective
Fits your average 750 ml bottle, just like at any bar. Most likely will not fit any awkwardly shaped or oversized bottles. Mine give a slight leak now and again, but bartending at fast speeds can be messy anyways. Don't cover the breathing hole on the back of the pour spout, or it wont work correctly. Hold bottle at a 45 angle to pour with thumb on the rim of the speed pourer in case the seal eventually gives out. And unless you like "floaties" in your alcohol, don't leave the spout in the bottle for extended periods of time. Wonderfully made for the price.
4Great for parties!
I got these for a party and they worked great. Popped right in the bottles and poured at an even pace. No leakage at all with them. I was very happy with them I would have liked if they would have had a small cap on top though so I could keep them on to store bottles without worrying about bugs flying it. All in all great product!
4Poor fit. Messy.
My initial reaction when I opened the package was that these were going to be a great addition to my bar. I was very wrong. I purchased these because I was going to be bartending (first time) at a friends party. I quickly learned that these pourers don't fit very tight, and even if they did, they have to be held at a specific angle in order to keep them from leaking. The little air-relief hole needs to be at the 12 o'clock position in order to prevent leaks. For this beginner, the flow rate is good. Not too fast. Not too slow.I'll probably continue to use them for smaller gatherings where I'm only making a few drinks, and can closely pay attention to their position. But certainly not in a busy environment.
2Some leak through the air hole
The little air hole tubes go through the metal casing, and since the fit isn't perfect there's a little crease between the tube and the case. The creases are supposed to be closed with a clear sealant, but not all pourers have the sealant. As a result, some of them leak through the crease.Still amazing for the $4 price, just expect to have to throw out a couple.
3the best you can buy
These are the same pour spouts i used for years as a bartender at Friday's. They are, hands down, the best you can buy. Nothing looks better than a well stocked bar with the same steel pour spouts all flagged the same direction. The consistent flow keeps pours on point.
5Here's what I want to know!
How did I ever get along without these before? A friend bought me ONE for a fish wine bottle. I used it for my dish soap (dawn because it looks pretty inside of that bottle). But then, it just started getting slower and slower and s l o w e r.... It's not easy to remember something like this. I mean, why would I really think of these things just off the top of my head that I really NEED?I ordered these and I'm looking around for other uses. I replaced the pourer on my dish soap and then I put one on my olive oil bottle. Much better than trying to pour some without drips. Now, I might even buy a giant pour can of olive oil and just use this bottle for ease....
5Don't lose your precious alcohol to the floor!
I bartended for years and used pourers like this but none were ever this cheaply made. They fit into the bottle opening but don't expect it to not leak. We learned to hold on to the pourer when the bottle was upside down to keep from losing all our precious alcohol to the floor. I wish I had spent a little more money to get better quality.
