Customer Reviews

Great for a beginner!I am by no means a cigar connoisseur or a cigar master. I honestly don't even have a hydrometer. This tube works wonders for my humidor of about 20 cigars. The cigars stay soft and don't dry out, they still smell good and fresh. After unwrapping all you have to do is1) take off the plastic cap2) fill with water up to the line (some folks only used distilled water)3) put on the cap with holes4) let it rest for a minute or so (so the crystals can absorb the water)5) and viola you put it in the humidor and enjoy fresh cigars!I noticed that I need to refill the tube about once a month. Then after 2 years or so I just get a new one.this has no odor and the crystals wont hurt you if accidentally spilled.I took away 1 star because sometimes it takes some time for the crystals to absorb the water, otherwise there are no negatives. So if you are a beginner, or don't feel like messing with hydrometers and thermometers and whatever else, this tube will be a great purchase. I have friends who have 50 cigar humidors and they use 2 of these and say it works very well.Cheers and happy puffing!! 4Great for travelingThis humidifier tube is a great accessory for cigar travel cases. My husband wanted this for the Cigar Caddy 3400 so that his cigars would stay at the proper humidity when traveling. The humidifier tube fit the bill perfectly! He loves that it is the same shape/size as a cigar, so it easily fits into the case.Unlike other reviewers, we did not find this hard to use. However, the instructions could use some beefing up. When you receive the tube, you just fill it with water to the fill line. It must stay upright until the crystals absorb the water. You may have to shake some excess water out of the tube once the crystals have absorbed their maximum water capacity. Then, the perforated cap is added to keep the crystals in, but allow the humidity to get to your cigars. Once the crystals give off their water and sink below the fill line, you just add more water. 5Easy, effective, and inexpensiveThe Drymistat does its job exactly as it should. Other reviewers have more experience, so I defer to them for details of effectiveness. By the way, the thickness of the tube is ~the same as a cigar tube, and it is 5.5" in length. The instructions advise placing it in the center of the humidor. There is perhaps some understandable confusion because the instructions could be written better, and that is why a few reviewers had problems with leaking: "Some evaporation may occur while sitting on the shelf. Remove wrapper. Add plain tap water to the Fill line. Put perforated cap on tube and wait for water to be absorbed. . . . A mixture of Propylene Glycol and water has been specially formulated and initially charged into the crystals."When you receive the Drymistat, pop the cap and take out a crystal. You'll notice it is moist. This is the "initial charge" referred to, and the amount of moisture will depend upon, as the instructions say, how long the item has been sitting in inventory. The instructions mention that the tube has microscopic pores which permit moisture to pass thru; this is why there can be evaporation. All that's required is to add a small amount of water - if necessary - to the fill line and then leave the tube upright with the second perforated cap on, until that water is absorbed by the crystals, which is pretty quickly. Turn the tube upside down and gently shake it or very gently squeeze it, and any excess water will come out. Now place in humidor and there won't be any leaking. The crystals will shrink as the water transfers to your absorbent cigars or whatever. Refill when crystals shrink below the lower line on the tube. That's all there is to it. 5So-SoThis one is weird for me. When it arrived the crystals were already swollen from water. I ve had it about a month now and the crystals haven t shrunk back down to size. I never had to add water yet which I thought was odd. I use it for a Cigar Caddy 10 ct travel humidor. What I do know this has done is over-humidified my cigars which caused them to swell up and become difficult to smoke. Couldn t say what RH% It s at but probably way too high. I think for a larger humidor this would be okay. I ve opened the top of the Drymistat in hopes that some of the moisture in the tube will evaporate. We ll see what happens. 3Seems to work but all pieces don't fitI received the humidifer tube promptly, so no problem there. It was precharged but a little under the fill line. I removed the plastic seal, added water, and inserted the perforated stopper, replacing the solid stopper it ships with. But, the perforated stopper doesn't fit. It's too small and easily falls out. Has anyone else experienced this or did I just get the wrong stopper with my shipment.Otherwise it seems to work well. The 2 stars is for the bad fit and customer service which said they are only the distributors and not the manufactures, so they didn't know why I was experiencing my problem. 2Helps keep my cigars freshThe Drymistat - Humidor Humidifier helps keeps my hygrometer in the "ideal" range. I use it along with the standard humidifier included in my countertop humidor. My cigars are soft and fresh. 5Great ProductI'm relatively new to cigars, I've been an on and off smoker for several years but I just recently got serious with it (my dad's been smoking cuban for 40 years so I've been around cigars all of my life).I was surprised at how incredibly easy it is to maintain 70% RH with these things. I popped them into my humidor and I've been at 70.5% for the last week or so.A couple of things are confusing.First of all I read a lot of reviews saying people had to remove crystals when they got them cause they swelled when they filled them, etc. etc. These come pre-filled, they should state so on the packet but they are ready to go as soon as you get them, no need to add water (generally speaking). You have to have a properly seasoned humidor to make these work out of the box, that's a big deal. You also need a relatively accurate hygrometer, there are several here on Amazon (look for Caliber III +-1%RH; about $20).Finally, they are a lot bigger than they look, think like 2 large test tubes put together. From the pics I thought they were a lot smaller.Anyway, they are a great all round product and a great all round seller.Best. 5Not happyI received the product and the tube was cracked. It says the item is ineligible to return so I figured I could make do with the crack in it. I followed the instructions and it does hold some humidity but not enough for my 10 cigars in a small humidor that is well seasoned and sealed. I would recommend getting more than one even for small humidors. I would actually recommend another product as this one came broken and is ineligible for returns for some reason. 1Max 57% humidityAbsolute garbage. I had two of these and tried them in two humidors. One cedar-lined, and one a plastic, completely sealed container. I put two tubes in each humidor, with six cigars for 48 hours each. Both times, humidity levels never reached above 57%. The cedar lined humidor had been seasoned, and I had been using the standard sponge humidifier. Using that, humidity level was around 68 to 69%. When I took it out, and put just the tubes in, humidity fell to 57% overnight. In the plastic, sealed humidor. I removed the two tubes and put a standard sponge type humidifier in, and within two hours reached 69%. 1LEAKS WATER IF NOT UPRIGHTdont know if it leaks only during specific conditions but I had it in a ziplock bag and I found water at the bottom of the bag!some of my cigars ended up wet!I did have the drymistat upside down but they didnt say anything about keeping it in a specific orientationI wonder how it would work in a humidifier when the tube is sideways or when traveling 2
