Worst Bulb Ever! These are the worst bulbs ever! I purchased six because I read that they are hard to find. I didn't want to be caught without the brightness of the 250 watt bulb. I do a lot of needle work and things that require a well-lit room. I had hoped these bulbs would fit the bill. I was wrong. The first bulb worked for a very short period of time. After just a few weeks, it would only come on at the 50-watt level. So I got a new one, it never would go all the way to 250 watts so I tried another and another. They were all the same. They seemed to be packaged well so I don't think they were damaged during shipping, but I won't buy them again. I can honestly say this is the worst purchase I've ever made at Amazon.1Does what it's supposed toHard to find these and although our entire house is now LED's we have one lamp in our living room we read by and I haven't been able to find an LED with equivalent Lumens. Hopefully LED's will be available with a true 250 watt incandescent Lumen output soon and I won't need these in the future.5Good, but hot and expensive. They worked good, but there was too much heat, and cost at 250 watts; so I got rid of them, installed a 'Y' socket adapter in the lamp and am now using 2-100 watt equivalent LED"S. Only 40 watts of electricity being used and they seem brighter than the 250 watts. I"m using bright white LED's5I purchase these on a regular basisI have 5, three way lamps in my house which I purchased these for on a regular basis, since the frequency of led bulbs are questionably bad for the eyes, rather then taking the chance that they maybe, I stick to the incandescent bulb, I've been used too since infancy. These bulbs don't last a very long time, but they do give off a nice color temperature and can be adjusted for reading.5The bulbs are great! We use the 250 in the evening to ...Seller shipped the item very quickly. The bulbs are great! We use the 250 in the evening to read or do hand work otherwise we keep it on the 50 watts so that the bulb doesn't burn itself out from all the heat of all the watts........great bulbs and I couldn't find them anywhere in any of the big box stores around me.5Low and Medium Settings burned out instantlyLow setting flashed for an instant, then died. Medium setting did the same. Now I have a 250 watt light bulb.. Can't anybody make anything right anymore?Udate: First bulb died completely after three weeks of use. Second bulb low and medium settings burned out instantly. Expecting high setting to burn out any day. When a product is defective, Amazon should stop selling it.1Allows me to see, better.I purchased a older 3 way table lamp, which allows me to use the older style bulbs. Which lights up my table/desk enough that I can see. I have been using 2 floor lamps each lamp had 190 watts and a desk lamp had 40 watt , which did not allow me to read. I guess my old eyes are used to the older light bulbs.5We thought these would be a little brighter with the dimmer switchesThey are bright but not would you really need. Also using the dimmer switch it causes them to burn up faster. What happened to the Reading Light that was really bright. With new technology, I guess it went by the wayside. We'll be able to use in some other rooms but all have dimmers.5Short lifetimeI had the same problems as many others: the lowest power setting (50-watts) only lasted a few days on the first bulb (I bought the 4-pack). My 250-watt 3-way bulb is now a 200 watt 1-way. I could have purchased a 200-watt bulb for the same socket that would have been much cheaper, so am rather disappointed. Don't know if this is a problem with the bulb, or if they just don't ship well, but cannot recommend.Update: Even the 200 watt part of the bulb has a very short life before it burns out. I estimate that the lifetime for these bulbs is about 100 hours, not the 1000 hours listed on the label.1Bulbs lasting less than 1 week each...Not sure if these are knock offs or previously used. 2 bulbs have blown already with less than 5 hours of use per day for 2 weeks at the office. The first 50-setting just blew as I turned it on. Never had this problem when purchased in store.1
