Good for the money For the price and set up its a nice unit. A few things keep it from being 5 stars. First is a nesuance, the plug is to short to make it really counter friendly. The indicator lights arent clear enough and bright enough to tell if its ready or not. Really needs better temperature controls.ProsLays flat for those looking to use as a skillet option for like bacon. Or flat cooker for like meats. The plats are removable for easy clean, and are non stick. Wish it offered other plats for diffrent cook configurations. Easy clean, and the grease collection is pretty efficient.All and all an solid inside gril for the money. 4Nice size - nice features! This was purchased as a replacement product for an aging Foreman grill. After using it for a few months we are quite satisfied with it. It's typically used to grill chicken or burgers and will easily accommodate 4 portions. The temperature setting and removable grill plates are convenient as well and a nice additional to what we are used to. The drip pan is hidden underneath and hides the mess while cooking, so much so that a few times I have almost forgot to empty it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a clam-shell style indoor grill. 4Great grill! I have used this grill almost every day since I bought it! Closed, it cooks meats fast, so fast that my vegetables & other sides need to be almost done prior to putting meats on this grill. I cooked hamburgers & better cheddar's last week & my daughter-in-law was shocked at how quickly both meats were done and looked & tasted grilled! She wants to get one now! Everything about this grill is great from the drippan to the temperature settings! Easy to clean! The only negative is the book that came with it had no cooking chart suggesting temperatures & cooking times. Cooking at 350 or higher with it closed is too high (so far I close the lid when I cook meats) temperature, I use 325 when grilling meats. I have not used it as a griddle yet because I bought it mainly for grilling purposes. Would recommend to anyone wanting to eat healthier! 5Way better than a Foreman grill! Best indoor grill I have ever owned. Will only fit four burgers if you get a common 1/5 or 1/4 pound patty. More room than any other one I have used and SOOOOO easy to clean. Controlling the temp is nice as well if you are needing to speed up or delay the finish time.This grill can take a 20% fat burger and make is not greasy, but still super moist. I put 4 frozen patties on with some zesty italian dressing and let it work for about 7 minutes. Done and tastes GREAT! 5Ive only used it once but Im in love! I looked into a George Foreman because I used to have one years ago, but these all in one grills have come a long way since then. I went with this one because of the reviews honestly and it did everything I wanted and more. The thought of making bacon without a greasy splattered mess in the oven or on the range is awesome, can't wait to use it for that!!I was able to make 7 pancakes at once, it could've been 8 but I ran out of batter. It was awesome not having to use a pan to make one at a time.It was easy to use, per the instructions, SUPER easy to clean (grill plates go into the dishwasher) and wipe the outside. 5Not Like Hamilton Beach made in the past! The Teflon was bubbling up and moving on the device when I tried to clean it before I used it. I would have returned it anyway because it was too small and the Hamilton Beach I had purchased years ago was larger and easy to clean. I was replacing it with a new one, but very disappointed in the quality and all over appearance and size. 2Perfect bacon and burgers every time! Dishwasher safe removable surfaces and grease tray. Mmmmm. Bacon. Perfect, no mess, no clean-up bacon. That's just one use - and the first one I used this for. Preheat at 400 degrees. Arrange several slices, close. After a minute open again, fit a few more slices on. This way you can cool a pound in two rounds. 7:44 later - PERFECT bacon. Only cleanup? The inside panels and drip tray - and those are non-stick and dishwasher safe.One warning with bacon though. Watch bacon blocking the drip tray opening! I caught it just in time. Actually two warnings. It's so easy to make perfect, non-splatter bacon you may wind up eating it more often.The drip tray is good for one pound of bacon when you use the "kickstand" - the tray fills up fast. If it overflows, you'll have a mess beneath the grill. If the grill sits flat, the tray holds about 50% more, as it's not at an angle. But the more it fills, the more careful youneed to be emptying it. Or wait for it to fully cool, then scrape it out. If you want to pull grease and lard from meats for later use (yes, some people still cook with it and eat it as a sandwich spread), this grill is a great way to accomplish that.I've also made burgers - well, bacon burgers and they were great. Up next will be fish and steak. Fish is difficult to grill - usually we pan fry. Looking forward to trying this.The MultiGrill is a great kitchen accessory - I hate heating an oven for small meals - this makes much more sense. If you have a cabin, RV or camp with A/C power available, consider this as a great cooking option.I've included a couple of photos - the grill after a pound of bacon. If the plate looks a little, er, light - well, I ate some while cooking. 5Works better than anticipated and has lasted longer than the last two Foreman grills we owned prior to this one I was a bit surprised that this grill still works well even after using 2 to 3 times a week since November 2016. My husband and I have been Foreman Grill owners since before we married, but had less than satisfactory experiences with the last two we owned. One didn't last 6 months and the last one didn't even last a month before it started malfunctioning.I don't like grills without removable plates and won't allow another in the house since I'm the one that gets to clean them. I'm impressed that the plates have lasted 8 months without a scratch, considering they are washed in the dishwasher after soaking. Since I'm a little paranoid, I use the light wash feature on the dishwasher, but they've done fine with no warping or scratches.My only complaint is that the drip tray developed a crack apparently starting where the the plastic was injected into the mold. I was able to go to the manufacturers website, but ended up paying $10 in shipping for two replacement drip trays. The trays themselves weren't that much, only about $5 apiece, but it is annoying to pay have the cost in shipping with no option for buying replacement parts from amazon.com where the grill was originally purchased. Having said that, I do really like that replacement parts are available. A couple of times we've purchased a grill and had to throw it out because the grill plates were scratched and replacements grill plates could not be purchase. So definitely less for the land fill this way.Considering the decent performance of the grill, I will definitely consider buying other Hamilton Beach appliances in the future. 4Best bacon ever This thing is awesome! It makes it easy to make perfectly cooked bacon, and cleanup is a breeze. No more curled up, undercooked ends of bacon strips. No more spatter all over the place. It drains the grease as the bacon cooks into an easy to empty pan, so the bacon is less greasy. The non-stick cooking surface is easy to remove and cleans up with very little scrubbing.I haven't done anything other than use it to cook bacon yet, but I'm already willing to declare it "awesome". I'm looking forward to using it to make grilled cheese and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches.I have to add that I have since used it to make grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. They were perfect also. 5Quick, easy and convienant This is the first indoor grill I've ever owned. And I have to say, it's wonderful. No real setup. Just unpack and read the instructions. I've cooked hamburgers on three occasions and a boneless steak once and all came out very well. Clean up is also very easy. I have a microwave device for cooking bacon, so I can't answer to that. However, on examining the unit, I think that maybe lining the drip tray with aluminum foil might reduce the chances of the plastic tray cracking from the heat of the grease as reported by other users. You couldn't wrap the foil over the edges, but just laying the foil in the bottom may prevent the tray from cracking.Pre-heating of the unit takes only about 2 minutes, The cord is short, as pointed out by other reviewers. If you use a power strip, make sure it can handle the1400 or so watts this thing pulls.There is no booklet on cooking times, but a simple search of "foreman cooking times" or "foreman cooking times pdf" (I use the second) will give you a good guide to cooking on this unit. As this is my first unit, I found that this unit apparently cooks faster than the times for the Foreman unit, so I would take off 1 minute for each item if cooked individually. Test and see what your preferences are.I'm single and heating up a stove for cooking for just myself seemed a little excessive. So I am very happy with my unit so far. It does give off a little smoke on a steak, but not enough to set off my very sensitive smoke detector..I think you like it. It's a very nice unit. 5
