Customer Reviews

Works great.... Last more than three days so far I blew up one ballon as a tester before the party and this ballon hasn't changed in three days! My son plays with it a ton everyday and still it has not deflated at all! Works great! 5Amazing! Way beyond my expections! My son's birthday was Sunday and every year around 6am. my husband and I blow up a ton of balloons to fill the living room. My son is always thrilled when he wakes up and sees the party in the living room. Sadly, later that day, just around dinner time, we also have the pleasure of picking up the latex balloon graveyard.I had been hearing about the hi-float liquid and decided to try it out this year, even though when I searched on Amazon I saw some negative reviews. I figured, if it would just help the latex balloons last until the next day, it would be worth it.This year, like every year, we woke up early, put up all the decorations and set out the presents and began inflating the balloons at 6:30am (Sunday). I forgot to add the hi-float to the first balloon, but I figured it would serve as a great test. All other latex balloons receive one full pump of hi-float and a good squish around :) for about 5 seconds. By 9pm the first balloon (without hi-float) was rolling around on the floor, but all others were standing straight up in all their glory. I was thrilled !! We went to bed later and figured that we'd wake up to the graveyard in the morning. It is now Thursday 10:34pm and I am completely and totally in SHOCK that every balloon with hi-float is still up and looks absolutely perfect. Almost 5 days later !!! AMAZING!!!I have no idea why this didn't work for the people that left bad reviews. I used ordinary 12" latex balloons and didn't do anything different or additional than what it said to do on the instructions.Even though by now it's probably driving my husband crazy :) I'm going to try and leave them up to see how long they last. If I succeed in convincing my husband, I'll update the review when they finally fall. 5I chose to throw the product away rather than take risks described on product label "Please read the included instructions carefully" is the only warning in the product description on Amazon for Ultra Hi-Float.The following warnings are on the label but not in the description on Amazon:Label recommends eye protection and gloves while filling balloons - chemicals in product are dangerous if it gets on skin or in eyes before dry you may need to seek medical care.Label states product will harm surfaces like furniture, carpet and paint on walls if balloon pops before completely dry. (2 hours to dry)Label recommends you fill balloon in safe place like your garage then move balloons to party area after 2 hours 1Performs as advertised, outstanding product, latex helium balloons can last for weeks! Outstanding performance. Inflated 22 Qualatex balloons with helium and Hi-Float over 2 weeks ago, 20 are still afloat and are the same size. Only 2 of the 22 lost their buoyancy after one week (still a huge improvement for latex helium balloons which usually stop floating in 24 hrs). One review stated concerns over safety (I'm a chemist and truly understand the importance of proper handling of chemicals). This product is water based, absolutely no odor (I could not detect any solvent smell whatsoever). Once the product dries, it still is easily cleaned up with water. Safety glasses are recommended, if the balloon is over inflated and bursts this product will fly everywhere (has the consistency of hair gel which I wouldn't want flung into my eyes) The balloons in uploaded photo were inflated with helium over 2 weeks ago! Was able to enjoy them throughout the holiday season. 5Wish I knew about this stuff years ago... In preparation for my daughter's upcoming 5th birthday, I decided that I would test out this Ultra-Hifloat at our Super Bowl party. I followed the directions as included in the box, with two minor exceptions. First, the amount I put into the latex balloon was a little less than the guide recommends. In this case I uses 3/4 depression to fill an 11" balloon versus the recommended 1 full depression. And two, I did make sure to get a little into the neck of the balloon too (the instructions advise you not too). This last point did make it a little difficult to tie the balloon (slippery), but we managed just fine. You do have to inflate the balloons quite well to ensure adequate rise. I did have 1 that I under filled and the kids played with it all day, batting it around the house. That was until the Hifloat dried on the inside and the balloon started to rise! Now I would normally awake to a balloon graveyard the following morning (maybe even that night). The site of shriveled, pathetic balloons and wasted helium used to irritate me. Today I come down, and they are all still flying high, taught with helium, and show zero signs of weakening yet. This Ultra-Hifloat states it will make helium filled balloons float up to 25 times longer...I don't know if I will get 25 times longer, but so far we are on the right track. Amazing product. Will definitely use for my daughter's birthday coming up in a few months.EDIT: 2/12/12 Update - Simply Amazing. Exactly 1 week later, of 11 standard latex balloons inflated, 10 of them are still flying like the day were inflated. Midweek, the one that isn't, literally deflated before my eyes. I can't figure that one out. But the rest are still up and the kids are enjoying dragging them around the house. I will continue to update this review to give others an idea on how well this product continues to work.EDIT: 2/19/12 Update - Seriously! This stuff is now outlasting the Mylar balloons. 10 latex balloons still full and show no signs of losing helium. The 2 Mylars on the other hand are now about 1/2 full. Ultra Hi-Float is crazy good stuff!EDIT: 2/26/12 Update - OK. Whomever said this stuff doesn't work, doesn't know how to properly use it. While the 2 Mylar balloons dropped into the trash this week, I am staring at 10 full-filled latex helium balloons that are now starting to get on our nerves. They simply refuse to die. They've been up so long even the kids are bored with them. My wife asked if she could pop them so we could get rid of them. When has that ever happened with your latex balloons? I said no. I'll keep you posted. 3 weeks in and going strong.EDIT: 3/4/12 Update - Week 4 complete. The Hi-Float has started to crack and break off in some of the balloons leading to some rattling in them. As a result of the cracking, you can see that the lift to the balloons is starting to weaken and in fact 2 of the latex balloons are only flying at half height right now. I assume more will follow quickly this week. Still 8 balloons out of 11 flying at full height 4 weeks is pretty darn amazing.A little math - I've never had a untreated 9-11" latex balloon stay afloat for more than 12 hours at any one time, but it is of the general consensus that a traditional 11" latex balloon is estimated to remain afloat with helium for 18 to 24 hours. Ultra Hi-Float's guarantee of 25 times that time would equate to a staggering 18.75 - 24 days of rise. And here we are at 28 days, with roughly three quarters of my balloons still floating high! All I can say is it does work, and it does work well.EDIT: 3/11/12 Update - I can't believe I am still updating this review. I counted the balloons today that are still at full height and there are 7. We lost the 2 that were not quite as full last week plus 1 more. The balloons have been up so long at this point, I barely notice them anymore. Week five complete with an amazing 35 days of rise.EDIT: 3/18/12 Update - Well we are officially down to 3 balloons. But hey that's 3 latex balloons still floating 6 weeks after first inflation! I will say that the quality of the latex balloon must play a large part too, because we did our daughter's birthday this weekend and within the week we've already had 3 to 4 fall and I did the exact same protocol as I did in the original post. At this point though I'm so sick of balloons. I'm ready to pop them all just so I can stop editing this post.EDIT: 3/25/12 Update - Down to 2 balloons at 7 weeks. We've actually removed the remaining to to the basement since they seem so out of place. I mean they are from a Super Bowl Party. I think one of them is starting to falter so hopefully in one to 2 weeks, this review will be over. I never expected it to go this long.Late Additional Updates:EDIT: 4/1/12 Update - Down to 1 at 8 weeks.EDIT: Between 4/8 (9 weeks) and 4/15 (10 weeks) it seems the the last holdout fell. Today is 4/21 and I don't recall seeing floating earlier this week. I found it 3/4 to full will helium, resting on the basement floor. It was banished to the basement because we just couldn't stand to look at them anymore. Too funny. Who would have ever thought? So in closing 75% of the balloon made it 28 days. And a few held on for 8-10 weeks. Overall a truly remarkable product. But buyers beware. The effect generated by the Hi-Float is STRONGLY correlated to the quality of the balloons that you use. It can only help poorly made balloons so much. But it can drive you batty with good balloons as they never seem to want to die! 5Life Saver . . . Balloons 24+ Hours Aloft Just had a fabulous party for my son's graduation from University of California Santa Barbara. Knowing there would be zero time between the end of the morning ceremony at UCSB and the start of the lunch party at a hotel downtown, we had to inflate the balloons the evening before and fully decorate the venue. I must say, I was nervous that we'd arrive at the party to find sagging balloons . . . but jumped for joy when we arrived to find everything just as we'd left it nearly 16 hours earlier . . . including big, shiny, beautiful balloons still high in the air. We used 11" Qualatex balloons (dark blue, goldenrod & clear with grad hats printed on the outside) and pretty much one pump of Ultra Hi-Float in each balloon before inflating (like instructions called for). We rubbed the prepped balloon between our fingers to make sure the gel was evenly distributed then used 'Balloon Time' helium tanks to inflate. We hand-tied each with a simple knot. You might want to have a small towel nearby to wipe your fingers every so often as the gel can make for impossibly slippery tying if any gets on the outside of the balloon . . . which made for some very funny moments and lots of giggling during the process! We left the party and balloons behind just over 24 hours after the balloons had first been inflated and they were ALL still going strong. 5Over TWO months on half pumps, just read these directions The directions say to use more to get longer results, but a half pump, if not less, is more than enough. Just make sure you massage the gel inside the entire balloon including in the nozzle you tie off. The trick is that it needs to create an entire new layer inside the balloon that's completely sealed. This one won't allow helium atoms to pass right through it. If you don't use any in the nozzle, it won't be completely sealed will it? Yes it's messy on your fingers when you're tying it off, but this makes a big difference. This gel is so effective it even repaired a torn mylar balloon and it lasted over 2 weeks. I placed a drop inside the tear, massaged it over the area, and used a piece of tape over it. The picture with R2-D2 was 12 days after I filled them, along with a close up of the repair to the mylar balloon. The third picture is of a entire month afterwards, having only lost R2-D2 and one of the blue balloons at around 3 weeks old. The balloons are physically still holding strong, although I'm not sure how much longer they'll be tolerated hanging out in the kitchen.Edit: at 8 weeks 2 more balloons came down from the ceiling. At 9 weeks four more came down, one of which is currently wandering around the house riding air flow. God only knows how long they could last if the kids weren't playing with them.Edit: the last balloon finally came down at 13 and a half weeks. 5Product didn't achieve what I had hoped I have to say, I had a very hard time perfecting the amount of solution to pump into the balloons, and I did read the instructions first and follow the suggested amount per size balloon. For me, it did take slightly less than recommended. Any more, and the balloon would just sink or float aimlessly mid-air like a bubble, which my kids thought was hilarious (albeit not exactly my target height). Once I mastered the amount, the balloons SOARED for the ceiling. I could barely get them tied in time before they took off. Now that was the only benefit I saw. The balloons did stay at maximum height for the length of time they were originally expected to stay inflated, per the helium tank I purchased. They didn't start to "lag", so to speak, as I've noticed others do in the end. I, personally, did not benefit from any significant increase in time the balloons stayed in the air, which was what I had really been looking for. I, at best, got balloons that stayed high for about 2-3 hours longer. I probably would not recommend the product, as I didn't myself notice anything "Wow" from it and spent so much time trying to figure out the perfect amount of gel to pump in, that I didn't even have enough time left to blow up all the balloons I wanted to. It may be great for someone else. Personally, I don't have that much time to spend perfecting my "pump" when blowing up 200 balloons. I guess it depends on your situation and perfect pumping ability. I'm just a regular, imperfect mom. 3Worked great for our party 11" balloons with one full pump last easily a week. Half a pump gets you a full day. The balloons without any Hi-Float lasted only 5-6 hours. It worked great for our party. While popping balloons I noticed that I had cut one balloon but not the coating that the Hi-Float created inside. Even though the balloon was cut, it still held in the helium. See the picture I posted. 4Love this product, works excellent !!!!!!!!! This product is awesome, I have used it on 3 occasions now (I love the look of having a room filled of floating balloons). I have found this works the best with 11" helium grade balloons ( I still have several floating around the house from March 15th and today is April 24th). But on average I find that the 11" helium grade balloons with 3/4 of a squirt in them last 10 -14 days. The 9" balloons that come with the tanks last 5-7 days with a 1/2 squirt. In the picture it still show a few balloons (39 days later) still high to the ceiling that have the Hi-Float and the Mylar balloon isn't floating as good. This product does exactly what it says it does, and it is a relief that you can set up the balloons at least 24 hrs in advance. One thing to remember this is an unknown substance that is going into the balloons, so please do not use the helium from these balloons to change your voice. 5
