Excellent Quality/Price Ratio
I want to start off by stating that this cabinet is surprisingly very, very sturdy; I'm a small woman and had to carry this up two flights of stairs without being winded! The quality/price ratio is spot on here. The wheels are nice, but it's a filing cabinet that's neatly wedged between two desks, so those aren't too important for my needs. I'd imagine that this wouldn't wheel around at random on hardwood floors, but my office space has thick carpet.Assembly: There's really nothing to it other than knowing how to use a Philips screwdriver and basic reading comprehension. A word of warning, though - once you screw the wheels in, they definitely aren't coming off without a lot of force and a kit. All of the drawers are blocked at the end, so they won't come off if you pull too hard. The handles are hard plastic and seem pretty tough, but time will tell how well they hold up.Lock: This is where things get slightly interesting. The quality of the lock itself is decent, but it leaves a little to be desired since it's wiggly. Unless you're holding some classified items in the lockable drawer, this shouldn't be an issue. We've tested it with two people pulling while another held it steady, and it wouldn't budge. The keys are a bit flimsy, but that's nitpicking at this point.Quality: Like I stated before, this cabinet is very sturdy. I will say that it's a bit wobbly on the sides, so I would be careful of the environment that you put it in. I did place a very, VERY heavy bass amplifier on top of it for a few hours while I rearranged some things, and there wasn't so much as a dent on it - but I WAS careful. The finish on it is like any filing cabinet you'd come across in a generic office. This fits standard filing folders and letterheads, like this one AmazonBasics Hanging File Folders - Letter Size (25 Pack) - Green in case anyone was wondering. I've stuffed the second drawer with documents, receipts, misc accounting items, etc, with the top drawer holding spare office supplies like staples and envelopes, and the bottom holding a boatload of printer paper and ink cartridges.Pictures: I took some pictures of it between two desks, a close up of the handles, one of the lock, how the wheels look against carpet, and the first two drawers. There's about 4.5 inches more drawer than shown (of the one with the files). In conclusion, this filing cabinet is quality enough for those on a budget or don't require a florid filing system. Personally, I believe this will do just fine for a home office or small business. If you have questions about it, I'll try my best to answer, but it's really a no-brainer. At this price, you bet you're getting a bang for your buck.
5Cheaply made. Recieved the file cabinet with a hole ...
Cheaply made. Recieved the file cabinet with a hole where one of the locks was suppose be. Returned the cabinet months ago and NEVER received a refund. Contact info nowhere to be found.
1Lorell File Cabinet
I am very pleased with the quality of this file cabinet. I don't have to buy a separate file folder hanger as the drawer has grooves built into it for the folders to hang on. I also drop shipped this to another address & there was not a problem at all. Thank you!
5Nice for the price.
Nice for the price. It's definitely lightweight, but that's what I wanted. I used to have a very heavy wooden filing cabinet that had bars that held the hanging folders. I lost the bars so needed a new one anyway. This one is more compact. I also like that the top two drawers lock. And the smaller top drawer is a nice touch. It'll also be easy to clean under and behind thanks to the wheels. No complaints!
5No Keys! Casters Don't fit! DO NOT BUY THIS EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS "AMAZON CHOICE"
I hoped that this would be better than all the other one-star reviews, especially considering this is an "Amazon Choice" product. Shipping was delayed, no keys in any of the drawers- I checked in and under each of them. The casters were NOT easy to install and the holes did not match up. I bought it for the convenience and I wish it would not be SUCH a hassle to send it back. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. If you want a good filing cabinet, it is worth just going to the store to be sure it is what you want and all the pieces are there!
1May be ok for storage, but not ok for an active home office
I work from home full time and bought this for my home office. I wanted to like it, butt it was just not suitable for daily use. First, it feels "cheap" because the metal is flimsy. The drawers don't pull out all the way and if they did it would probably tip over. I was constantly scraping my knuckles on the drawer above when I reached in the put files in back part of the drawers. The keys were nowhere to be found and I wasn't in the mood to go on a treasure hunt to find them or to call for customer support. This will be donated to the church's next rummage sale.
2Light but sturdy, key was hidden on lock mechanism in bottom drawer
I love this little filing cabinet! I use it at home for all my documents and it has made my life easier. It's very light and the wheels seem pretty sturdy once they are on.The lock seems to hold the drawers well but I'm not trying very hard to fight the lock. When mine came in the box the key was hung on the lock mechanism in the bottom drawer. If you buy one of these cabinets and can't find your keys check there. It wasn't easily seen I just happened to bump it with my hand.
5Good and inexpensive file cabinet
If you don't need anything fancy, this is a pretty good option. It's a reasonably well-constructed file cabinet, with a built-in lock. The only annoying thing about this cabinet is that the lock doesn't lock all three drawers: only the top two are locked. The bottom remains unlocked and accessible. This wasn't a surprise (it's clearly stated in the item description), but it would be nice if all three locked instead.Other than that, I'm happy with the purchase. I use it to organize a bunch of personal documents, receipts, etc.
4Flimsy, lightweight, cheap metal
To be honest if you like the look of cheap metal buy this , if you want a product that scratches when you look at it then buy this . Seems like it was made of the cheapest recycled metal they make . I've had it maybe 6 hours and has one scratch on it , The handles to it are loose also , I see lots of good reviews . I've worked around filing cabinets before and the metal is better quality then this . I guess they no longer make things like they use too
1The back wheels.........nooooooooooo
I can't really get too crazy over a file cabinet. THis is OK. But putting the back wheels on....come on. No they can't make it easy. The front wheels, just screw them into the holes on the bottom of the cabinet. But the back wheels....noooooooo. You have to put a bracket on it and then screw the wheel into the bracket. It doesn't sound hard, but its not intuitive. and the bracket doesn't fit the way its supposed to. to do it right you have to make it off center. Just make it a solid bottom like the front wheels so you don't have to play jigsaw puzzle. Thats why this gets 4 stars...who wants to spend that much time trying to figure out back wheels on a file cabinet. And, it's not all that sturdy, when putting the wheels on, you can press the bottom of the cabinet and it bends. Its very light, even the kid next door could lift up the box. Hanging files, they get caught up in the drawers because the bottom of the drawers are not flat, they have raised ridges, maybe to keep the files separated, but that means when you push the files back on forward they are going to get caught up on those ridges.
