No more burnt arms and fingers
Being in the food service business all my life was afraid I would be disappointed in this peel. I wasn't good quality and strong enough for the heaviest pizza we could put in our oven or grill outdoor plus no more dropped pizza because we burnt ourself. If you do a lot of pizza best to get yourself one of these.
5Great peel.
Works beautifully. I use about a tablespoon of masa harina (corn flour) on the peel to prevent pizza from sticking. I ve never had a problem. As I m preparing the pizza on the peel I periodically shake it to make sure it s not sticking. If a portion of the dough does stick, just lift it and throw some more masa harina underneath that portion. I had a wood peel but it cracked and was hard to clean. The handle is long. Make sure you have a place to store the peel.
5The PERFECT Pizza Peel
With a small galley kitchen, this is the perfect size Pizza Peel. The wooden handle is nice and firm with no flex or give to it. The aluminum peel quickly and effortlessly slides under the pizzas on our stone. From there, the entire length of the pizza peel, although it feels larger outside of the oven, is the perfect size to get the pizza from the back of the oven. The only way that I am going to replace this pizza peel is if we get an actual pizza oven in our apartment (not going to happen) or if it breaks after years of usage. I give this my stamp of approval.
5Smooth, slick surface!
This beats my wood peel by a mile! The smooth aluminum surface allows your pizza to slide onto and off of the pizza stone easily. Plus it s lighter and easier to handle (no pun intended)! That said, i still like my wood peel for cutting and serving the finished pizza!
5A must for the home pizzeria!
I've really gotten into making my own pizza lately. And I desperately needed a better way to transfer the assembled pizza into the oven. I chose this particular one because of the great reviews, plus I assumed that the metal blade would be smoother and more slippery than wood. It works very well with store bought pizzas as well as my homemade pizza dough. However, I used it with pre-made pizza dough (the kind that comes in a cardboard "pop" tube) once..disaster! The dough was much too sticky, even with handfuls of flour. As I attempted to slide/jerk it off the peel onto the stone, the crust remained on the peel and all the topping slid off onto the stone. This thing is sturdy. Some of my pizzas end up being pretty hefty and I have no worries re: this peel bending. Also, this peel is large. Great for pizza making, but not so great for storing in a home kitchen. A hole drilled through the handle, maybe with a leather loop, would make this product so much better....that way I can hang it from a hook. It's easy enough to DIY, but would only had a few seconds to the manufacturing process....
4If you do pizza at home, get this
I was miserable trying wood or composites, and most were too small for a family pizza. This thing works great and can take a whole store bought dough spread out. Slides on and off easily with proper dusting.
5Small and everything sticks
No matter how much flour or cornmeal I use my pizzas still stick. Aluminum is not good for home pizzas. Wood is much better. The wood gets seasoned and eventually things slide off but with aluminum it never gets seasoned and stuff sticks. It's not really wide either. It's just me so I don't really need to make giant pizzas but I wish I would have bought a bigger wood one.
3Very nice, well made.......should last......
This has worked out good for me.......a bit large but that is what I needed. The handle is very rough and unfinished and I considered oiling it but my hubby (cool dude that he is) took it and gave it a couple coats of minwax. He then put a small hole in the end and looped a leather tie to the end and hung it up on the wall. Actually looks good. I think it'll last a long time.......we'll see.Decent price and it does what it's supposed to. Thank you.
4Works very effectively
Pro's- fits my Pronto Gas Pizza Over very well.- width does well for personal side and pizzas up to 12"- Handle strength seems good- PriceCon's- handle could be finished smoother (but I am thinking of doing that on my own since it is raw wood)- As some have found you may have problems storing this in your kitchen. Mine fits in our cabinet, but not without angling it.
4It's big but not too big !
Well made but it's big. I figured bigger was better for the same price as a 14 x 16 inch but it's a little bit cumbersome for home use but not so much as to return it. Like others noted the handle is not finished but it also is not rough so who cares.Update 8 months and 50 pizzas later : As my ability grew, and I can now make 15 in. pies I need every inch of this peel. A 14 in peel would not cut it. I cut about 6 in. off the handle to make it easier to wield around my kitchen. Great value.
