    Size matters I've checked a lot of sites for these bulbs and had trouble finding out their size, which is often stated as three inches. That turns out to be just the portion of the bulb that lights up. The actual length of the bulb end-to-end is four-and-a-half inches, a perfect fit for our three hallway cornice lamps. I ordered one to be sure of the size and then ordered four more. The free shipping was fast (California to Oregon), the packaging almost bombproof and the bulbs brand new. Six stars. 5It Works Great! A Terrific Accessory! First, it came from the seller quicker than expected. Second, it was simple as could be to connect it to my Leatherman Wave. Finally, it works great and seems quite sturdy. I know other reviews have said it is flimsy and easy to break, but I don't share that view. The spring steel holds firmly (I wear the Wave inside a front pocket), and I have yet to catch it on anything. I highly recommend this Leatherman accessory. 5Would give these bulbs no star if possible I purchased the two pack of these bulb for use in my security lights. A few days ago I went to use one of them to replace a burned out bulb. New bulb did not light. Tried the 2nd one same thing it did not light. I discovered that both bulbs were defective. The filaments were not connected internally on one end to the bulb external contact. I called Philips and they essentially said of that problem again. They are sending me a refund of the amount that I paid Amazon for the bulbs. I was told that the bulbs are made in China and perhaps their quality control is not as good as it should be. I went to Home Depot and bought a 2 pack of the same bulbs and they work. The electrical dept manager at Home Depot told me they have seen other incidents of the filaments not being connected internally on some of these bulbs. Bottom line several hours wasted to do a 5 minute bulb replacement job. Not Amazon's fault but was still a pain in the butt. 1I had the same issue as some of the other reviewers The filament of one of the bulbs was cut in the middle (I could clearly see it even without opening the package), so I requested another item to be sent. When I received the replacement pack the next day, the filament of one of the bulbs was detached from one side (again, clearly a defective item even without opening the package). So either they got a bad slot, the item was not correctly stored in their warehouse, or perhaps this is just a really bad product. Either way, it is not a good sign if a customer can tell that the item is defective even without opening the package. 1A shining example of a bulb These bulbs emit white light when connected to an electricity source. I can't honestly say I was shocked to find this out, it was exactly what I expected. If the bulb had sung an aria from La Boheme, I would have been gob-smacked, but alas, that didn't happen and I'm not holding my breath. 4Don't Buy These! As some of the other reviews said, these ones came in a thin bubble yellow envelope. I bought 6 of them.I was cutting open the packages for the light bulbs, the third one was actually already broken into 3 pieces in the package, which I did not know. So I got my fingers cut by the broken light bulb.I really do not think these fragile light bulbs should be mailed out in such poor unprotected conditions.While I was installing the rest of 5 of them, 1 of the light bulb went off immediately with a very strong burnt smell in the bathroom. I took it out and noticed that there is a gray coat formed inside the light bulb tube.So 2 down, 4 to go.I will see how long these 4 last but this is not the kind of quality I was expecting from Philips.Very disappointed. 2May have an extremely short lifespan They just arrived and I am not going to return them but on the back of the package it states that they have a life expectancy of 1/2 a year at 3 hours a night. That is ridiculous, if true! I notice that some people have complained about a short life and others state they last a long time. I will use them and see, but nowhere on Amazon, that I can find, does it state this bulb will only last for 6 months at 3 hours per night. The previous bulbs I used have lasted many years and at much more then 3 hours per night. When the current ones burn out, I will try these and see what happens. 1A must read if you are buying this light! ATTENTION! READ READ THE #1 STARS CAREFULLY!! The label says that these bulbs have a one/half year service life at 3 hours a day. MORE IMPORTANTLYI: NOTICE THAT PHILLIPS DOES NOT ANSWER ONE QUESTION OR COMMENT. THEY REALLY DON'T CARE IF YOU GET SCREWED OVER. THEY WILL STILL SELL MORE WORTHLESS BULBS.WHY DIDN'T THEY LIST THIS UNDER THE SPECIFICATIONS ?!?! Really deceptive. BUY LED. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING. 1It was a bright two months It was a bright two months, illuminating while it lasted, but now it s dead, not a flicker or hint of light, not a glow or glimmer not even a dimmer, it s just dead like the presidents head. 1Fits Kichler Lighting systems perfectly - 50/50 survival rate though. Update 2: Half of the remaining bulbs have died after just 3 weeks (on for about 6 hours a day). Very, very disappointed.Update: I ordered two sets of these a second time and got screwed.First, they were packaged is a thin bubble wrapped envelope. Poor, poor choice of packaging. Two bulbs were broken on arrival and now I need waste my time to return these and get my money back.Second, two bulbs burned out in under a week. WTH? This is not the quality I expected.Original review:-This fit my upright Kichler Lighting system perfectly. I tried some of the cheaper ones found here on Amazon and they didn't fit quite right. This one is the winner. 1
