Customer Reviews

Great bulbKeeps the chickens warm in negative degree weather. The only problem is how hot it actually gets, so make sure there's ventilation because the cluckers will roast to death! That's not the problem with the light, it's a problem with the enclosure. I highly recommend this specific lamp for hatching out birds or for large reptile enclosures that require high heat. Better to go for a full spectrum UV lamp for reptiles, though. This one lasts for a decent amount of time.5So Warm! Auto shut off (when overheats) and great for winter showers.I got this for the showers in colder months for the east coast. This wont wrap your body in heat like a full blown heater would, but it makes morning showering in the wintertime OH SO comfortable without space bulk, fire hazards and cords wrapping around your bathroom.I left it on too long once and it clicked shut by itself. I wasnt aware of it and worried I burned it out, but it turned back on just fine when I reflipped the switch. It took a good while for that to happen though, I think around 40m, which is more than enough time for me to female-morning-ready myself (aka. shower, dry off, moisturize, robe myself).I havent tried it yet during super super cold days, as its still November rightnow. Will update later.Thank you!5Used to build an infared saunaI bought three of these for a home infrared sauna. Before ordering I checked a few other brands of 250W infrared bulbs at Lowes, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart. These are of noticeable better quality. Definitely more weight to them and thicker filaments. And if you are also building and infrared sauna, I definitely recommend the red over the clear. A clear 250W buld is pretty blinding. Plus the warm red/orange light + the heat makes you feel like you are instantly on a hot beach. Of course 20 minutes later you are sweating your butt off but that's why I purchased them.5Dont buy I bought this light recently since we are having a cold spell and we have chicks to keep warm our previous heating method wasn't warm enough. So we set up the heat lamp and was monitoring it for a few minutes to make sure everything was working properly and it was. After an hour or so I checked on them again and the bulb had gone out and a chick had died from lack of heat the others were huddle together crying when I checked the bulb the filaments were broken and you could hear them 1He stretches out like he is sunbathing and looks very comfortableThis is the "Real Deal" heat lamp bulb. Not the cheap one you can get at Lowes that bursts after 10 hours of use. I use this bulb outside to keep a cat warm all winter long. He has a shelter and this shines into the shelter from 3ft away. He stretches out like he is sunbathing and looks very comfortable.5This lamps saves a 23 year old small parrot with no problem. EZ on electric bill. The same lamp still works after 4 years.I bought this originally in 2014 as we had a whole slew of little chicks. Winters pass quickly in the south so I packed it up and put it in storage.I pulled it out in 2018 to warm up / heat our conyure tropical bird that has his cage in the garage. It has worked well. In fairness I should add thatthe garage never goes below 45 degrees as we have our garage ceiling insulated. ( but not the walls.) I tried a space heater but the heater kept kicking back to OFF. The point is it worked, and I think that this is a lot cheaper way to go than running a 1500w variable capacity space heater. It heats the bird. He directly feels the heat and appears happy. I feel good about running it... 24 hours as it is not a big draw on electric and he can trust it is always on and can move according to his need in the comfort level. BTW This bird is over 23 years old. In bird years... yeah. He is picky...5crushed box, but still works.. :/I was worried when I saw that the light bulb box was crushed, the mail carrier was not careful. :( I test the bulb and it works, whew! I would pack it more secured if I were them. If this light bulb happen to go out on me in less than a month, then I will bet it's because of this, I will be issuing refund. I would instruct mail carrier to be careful and that it's fragile but we all know mail carrier are reckless and not reliable. Anyway, will update review later. :)UPDATE: IT works perfectly fine, and works through-out Guinea keets entire brooding period (6 weeks) It is excellent and so warm. There is couple of times when my wooden lamp stand fell down onto floor crashing, this lamp endures. :) Would buy again.5Doesn't appear to be a true near infrared bulb for sauna & single light therapy useI ordered this to use as a theraputic near infrared light. This is not the same bulb I purchased when in Europe also by Phillips. Those bulbs give off a true red color. This bulb, unfortunately, does not. Now I'm wondering if this is a true near infrared bulb, emitting near infrared light. This bulb is very clear and the color it emits is more of a soft orange color. Unfortunately, I threw the box away before testing it out.1Great for keeping outdoor potted plants from freezingBought this to keep some potted outdoor plants from dying/freezing in below 40F. I kept them on my outdoor porch. Threw a large piece of thin plastic sheeting over them and turned this on when it was cold. Beware, you can't let the plastic touch the bulb because it gets super hot and will melt the plastic immediately. I used a lamp clamp with a cage over the bulb part to keep large things from coming in contact with it. My plants may not have been happy, but they survived the winter outside unscathed.5Long Lasting BulbsI have ordered several of these now for use with my baby chicks. I am pleased with their longevity. I had bought a couple from the local feed store for a couple bucks less but they didn't last half as long as these.5If you can't stand the heat, get out of the bathroom/mini-sauna...These bulbs are a little pricy but worth the cost in pure sweat value... And, if they last over a year, I will amend this review and give the product 5 stars. I built a "near infrared" sauna panel with a large (but light) piece of wood with 4 circles cut out, 4 lamps (also purchased on Amazon) inserted in the holes, 4 heat lamp bulbs in the lamps and all 4 lamp cords pony-tailed and plugged into a power-strip panel with an "on-off" switch. For approximately $90.00 ($88.00 for Amazon products), a $2.00 power-strip panel and scrap wood, I built a product that les cretins are trying to sell to us for an average of $1000.00 and higher. HA! They can go whistle Dixie...4
