Purchased this for my wife so this is her review:I quit smoking 7 months ago, and coincidentally gave up coffee for the hot months of the Florida summer and fall. Like every year, as the first hints of chilly weather snuck in, I got excited to go back to a nice cup of strong coffee. Imagine my shock to find my post smoker rejuvenated taste buds revulsion to my typical pre-ground Espresso beans in a automatic drip coffee maker. After declaring the entire pot a disaster and dumping it down the drain, I began my internet research and subsequent shopping spree.After deciding French Press was the way to go for me, I scoured Amazon, reviewed customer feedback and finally found Bean Envy's 34oz French Press Coffee Maker with Milk Frother. From the moment I placed the order, the customer experience has been a delight: personalized emails asking for feedback and making suggestions, a delightful Vanilla Cappuccino recipe (which I loved and have even taken to adding a cinnamon stick in while I heat the milk with the vanilla extract) and follow up galore. The products arrived when promised and the packaging was professional, but easy to access and ensured that everything arrived in perfect working order. I spent the next week experimenting with various coffee beans, coffee grinds, coffee to water ratios and brew time. I am thrilled with the daily rituals of a French Press brew, and am getting close to the perfect cup of coffee. Even my current "failures" taste delicious.The Milk Frother, while challenging to get the batteries in just right, once done has been beyond divine! I've owned a cappuccino maker in the past, and though I loved frothed milk, mastering the steam system could be challenging. But worse was the cleanup. With this handy battery operated Milk Frother, give me 30 seconds, and I'll give you a perfect cup of frothed milk, begging to have coffee poured in, with the frother already clean and back in its convenient stand! However did I survive without one up til now???As for the French Press itself, I love the coffee it helps me make. I was nervous about a glass container with a metal press. I use a wooden spoon to stir the grounds during the "bloom" period, as well as to pull the spent grounds from the bottom during cleanup. I almost went with the stainless steel insulated version until I read you want to pour the coffee as soon as the pressing is done, so you don't over brew.The only disappointment I have, is that if I try to brew a full 32oz batch, there is not enough room, even with the extra 2oz capacity, so grinds spill over and the "pressing" stage is a complete mess. Worse, with a full pot, when I go to pour into my carafe, the spout always drips, leaving a puddle of my hard worked for coffee on the counter. If, however, I do a 3/4 pot (750ml/24oz) or less, everything is perfect. This is my first French Press, so I'm not sure if the "full pot" syndrome is common or poor design. As for cleanup, with the black plastic "holder", the bottom section stays wet, keeping moisture between the plastic and the glass. Beyond that, the black plastic structure keeps the glass safe, the heat away from bare skin, and sits solid on the counter.While I am still trying to master the French Press process, I have been thrilled with the personalized customer experience provided by Bean Envy! Thanks!Donna 4I will never use a regular coffee maker againSo... my coffee maker all but died and I had wanted to try using a french press, so I decided to get this one. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! The coffee tastes sooooooo good and you can see the oils floating on top because there is no paper/metal filter to catch it all. I also really like that I can easily change the strength of flavor by allowing it to steep longer. I have some friends who wanted to try it and 2 who actually bought one too. My one friend doesn't like it much because she is always running behind and doesn't have time for the extra steps (you have to heat the water first and you have to push the plunger down at the end when it's done), but my other friend doesn't mind and has just incorporated all of the steps in-between her regular routine of getting ready in the morning like I did. I can't imagine there is any better way to make coffee. The carafe is sturdy and easy to use and clean. Plus, they send an extra screen for the plunger and the milk frother (but I haven't used the frother yet). It's a really great deal for a quality product! 5Company that really stands behind their productI bought this French Press in late December for my coffee-obsessed fianc . Without amazon prime, it took roughly a week to get to us and he got to work right away, cold-brewing. He s made a new batch about every other day since we got it. The French press works great, giving quality coffe with no little grounds left behind.Last week (late February), he told me it started leaking slightly from the bottom where the top part of the glass carafe is fused to the bottom and leaving a ring of coffee in our fridge and less coffee for him to enjoy so I emailed the company to see if we could send it back to get a replacement and what their return policy was, expecting to have to buy a new press.Within 24 hours, Jill, who was incredibly friendly and helpful, got back to me to let me know their products have a lifetime guarantee and to ask me where I d like my replacement shipped! We were both super grateful, but even more, they shipped us a new one and it got to us in two days. The whole interaction between me messaging customer service and having a new French press was a total of 3 days. I ve never had customer service this good before and any coffee gadgets we want in the future, we will absolutely go to Bean Envy first!As a side note, the milk frother is adorable, barely takes up any counter space, and really packs a punch. It s also very easy to clean! 5Amazing Customer ServiceIt seems so many companies say they want you to be satisfied or that they stand behind their product but don't follow through. My daughter bought me this for Christmas, and I love it! This week it cracked. I thought I had let it cool long enough and tried using hot tap water to rinse to avoid it, but it cracked anyway. Pretty clear that it was my issue and not covered under the lifetime warranty. Contacted support@beanenvy.com, explained it to them, and they immediately responded telling me that they would "love to send me a new one" ~ exact wording. No need to return the cracked one. It worked great instructions were easy. Coffee taste amazing in a French press and I love coffee. Today I was making my coffee and it fell apart. The plunger part separated from the rest of it and I m not very mechanical. You can see the pictures it ruined my coffee and I had to go to work with no coffee because I was running late. There s probably someway to fix this but I m a little disappointed because its a month old And I hand wash it. I think I m past the return time. Probably will go buy a French press from a local store. Bummer Because I really did like it. It makes the perfect amount for one or two people and it has a measuring line at 16 ounces which I really like. It s also easy to clean and I haven t seen anywhere were dirt or mold could gather which is a plus. Mine, 2 friends for Christmas,. now 1 for my Daughter in Law. It's a great gift.I've had the Keurig, too expensive per cup, though it makes good coffee. I bought the Ninja, wanting the best coffee possible. It made good coffee and cost me $150.00 for the unit. Both of these have to sit on top of the counter and they need to be cleaned by running things through them. I bought this French Press with the little cream zapper. It makes the best coffee I ever drank. The little zapper means no huffing and puffing machine to do it, while the water is on the stove heating, I put the coffee into the vessel. I put the cream in my cup and fluff it up and then immediately rinse it off and put it back in it's little stand. I pour the hot water over the grounds, wait 5 minutes and pour it into the cup with the cream and I am in heaven. Now, I buy ground coffee, or I can grind my own if I choose, and make he best coffee I ever drank and say, "Yum, I deserve this." And it cost me just the cost of the coffee and the cream and it's so worth it, I bought two more for my friends that I wanted to share my favorite thing I found this year with them. It's easy to clean, simple to use. I can put it in the cabinet between uses and is likely the least I've ever paid on my search for a great cup of coffee at home. I love it. They love theirs and it makes me happy, first thing every morning. 5Great combo! A couple of things to note...This is a great French press and the frother is perfect. I now make lattes every morning and save myself $5. But, as someone who works long hours and has a healthy commute, making my latte in the morning requires some planning. First, and this is important, make sure you use a course grind. The fine grinds can get past the filter press. Now, as far as the planning and making the latte. I boil the water while getting dressed. I then grind the beans while the water is cooling for a minute. You do not want to pour boiling water directly into the press. Make sure that you let the coffee steep for about 4 min before pressing. For the milk frothing, I heat up the milk for 30 seconds in the microwave before frothing. For the latte I do a 70/30 coffee to milk ratio. Enjoy! 5
