The Best Cervical Pillow!I had extreme pain years ago from using normal pillows. So I went to the chiropractor, got my neck fixed up, and he told me that I needed to have a cervical pillow. It looked very odd to me, but I have never looked back after the 1st night of sleep. The last cervical pillow I bought was from a chiropractor for around $55.00. It worked pretty good and lasted about 5 years. This pillow is in my opinion a lot better pillow than that pillow. It is firmer, which is what I need, and actually more comfortable. i called the chiropractor the other day to see the price on that pillow now and it is $68.00 without tax. This is the best cervical pillow in my opinion. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I really believe that many people have bad beds which leads to all kinds of aches and pains. You need to have a FIRM bed and a FIRM pillow. I did not ever think that a firm bed and pillow would work, but it does work. Your body needs that support. I always thought I liked a pillow top mattress, I was definitely wrong! If you need a new bed call "The Original Mattress Factory" (Based in Ohio I think) and get the Orthopedic UltraFirm or the Orthopedic Extra Firm bed. Old school beds that are the best beds made anywhere, PERIOD. They also have these blue foam cylinders that go in the side of the bed so your bed doesn't collapse when you sit on the edge of the bed. These blue foam cylinders are FREE, with your purchase if you ask for them!
5extremely comfortableI love this pillow! I had a really bad pinched nerve and decided to get this pillow so I could sleep..and it worked perfectly! I truly believe it helped me heal. The best part is that if you roll to your side no need to fluff it, the sides high enough that I'm supported.
5Quick benefitWhile I have not had this pillow for a long time, I've had a significantly positive benefit already. The neck pain I've had and more importantly, the TMJ issues that have plagued me for several weeks are markedly improved (Full disclosure: I'm also wearing a home-made jaw stabilizer when I sleep, which has undoubtedly helped). The pillow is a nice balance between firm and soft. The 'neck bump' is neither too high or low for me. The wings are the right height forside sleeping, though I'm not currently doing a lot of that. My neck range of motion is dramatically improved after just a short time. If you'rehaving neck issues, this might help you.
5After 8 months, I can actually sleep and wake up without crying in painI rated this lower than 5 stars so that someone would actually read it. I've had absolutely miserable neck pain for 8 months. I've done everything imaginable to help and followed all of the doctor's and physical therapist's orders. The therapist told me to eliminate pillows altogether and just sleep with a towel rolled up under my neck. I tried it, and it helped a little, but I could never get truly comfortable. I finally caved and bought this and I am SO thankful I did. For the first time in 8 months I could actually sleep one full night and wake up without immediately running to the freezer for a fresh ice pack. For someone whose been dealing with pain like this, you would understand how that felt. I seriously almost cried for joy. This pillow is still working great for me and my husband has been so impressed with the results that he wanted one as well and reports that he loves it just as much as I do. If you're on the fence, take my advice, BUY THIS PILLOW!
3Would make a better hemorrhoid cushion as I received it.When I received this I opened it up threw it on my bed and planned to use it that night. When I went to bed and placed my head on this pillow, It was like placing a log under my neck. My head wouldn't even touch the bed in the center of the pillow. I tried laying on my side but found the side so called cushions were more like using a brick under my head. I like the idea of the pillow, and actually thought of making one like this before I even knew they were available to buy. You see, several years ago I was diagnosed with a pinched nerve in my neck. I was told by a Dr. to quit using a pillow, but that didn't work since your head just flops to one side or the other and there is no support when sleeping on your side. I was using a memory foam pillow that I removed some of the foam so I could create a pit in the center. I have since found out that the spine in my neck area is in the Dr. words all messed up. I have complete use of my neck without pain during the day, but need to support it at night. I decided to remove stuffing from this pillow until it became comfortable for me to use, hence the big pile of filling in the photo. I pinned it shut until I am completely satisfied and then will sew shut. My suggestion is, the manufacture should install a zipper in the fill area so the user can adjust as needed. Everyone has different needs. Since I adjusted the fill, I love it so far.
3Best pillow ever for neck problems, and I have tried them allI have neck problems because of an injury I suffered in the Army. I have spent a small fortune trying to find a pillow that would help me sleep the night through without awaking at 3 or 4 a.m. in pain. My search is now over. This is the one.I have waited several weeks before posting this review because, as my son once told me, every new pillow I have tried works well at first. So with more than two months gone by with the Roscoe, I am confident its "trial" period is over and it's a keeper for sure.In fact, the first several days with this pillow were not all that great. The shape is very different from every other pillow I have used and it is very firm. You will have to train yourself to sleep on it as there is a relatively narrow comfort zone designed for your neck, head and shoulders. But that narrow zone is very comfortable. Once you have adapted to using this pillow, it will be great, I am sure. Also, as a great collateral effect, not only is my neck pain gone, but my early-morning, lower-back pain went away too. It's all about proper spinal alignment, I guess.
5This pillow is a life saver!!I have never slept better than I do now with my awesome cervical pillow. It can seem a little stiff at first, but it was an easy fix by sitting on it for a little while before going to bed that evening. It only took that one sitting. I can sleep comfortably on my back or sides and no longer wake up with neck pain.
5SUPER PILLOW!I borrowed my daughter's Roscoe Medical Cervical Sleep Pillow one night and almost didn't give it back to her! My neck has never felt so good in a long, long time. Unfortunately, I've been in several car accidents where I was rear ended and my neck is pretty messed up. I've been to the chiropractor and that helps for a while, but now that I'm using this pillow every night (I bought one for myself) my neck is feeling really good. I don't have any morning stiffness or aches! This is a GREAT pillow. I highly recommend it!
5Only would recommend for a very specific size person with a particular sleep positionI do not have cervical injury but do have occasional discomfort from sleeping on traditional pillows & wanted something that didn't induce a neck 'crank' while I slept. I'm primarily a side-sleeper. This pillow is ok but quite firm & over-filled. The indention is great but the gap between the indention for the head & the rounded pillow part from indention to where it touches the shoulder is rather large even for me (6'1"). If you sleep on your back & position your shoulders just right, it's a great pillow. If you are a side-sleeper like myself or I suspect if you have a shorter neck, this pillow would be a waste of your money.
3It helpsI've been having to go to chiropractor for cervical discomfort and back ache, along with very sore shoulders. The first night I used this pillow was very uncomfortable because I was not used to having my head fall back on a "hole" but the next morning I notice my shoulders weren't hurting as much.It took about a week for me to get used to the pillow and now I can't sleep without it. It truly does help with my cervical pain. The only thing I miss is sleeping on my stomach because the pillow doesn't allow for that, Which is a good thing. Also I don't understand what is the point of making the other side the "side sleeper" side because is not like I'm going to wakeup just to turn the pillow; for side sleeping I end up on one of the corners.Overall, it is very good.
