Customer Reviews
Good HighlightersI have noticed that other customers received a different assortment of highlighters than I did, so I would like to warn potential buyers that they may not get what they see in the picture. As for myself, in the photo attached you can see that I got 3 pink, 1 yellow, 2 orange, 2 blue, and 3 neon yellow. I was also a bit concerned about the difference between orange, yellow, and neon yellow in the original picture, but I can assure you that there is a distinct difference as shown in my picture below. I am not sure what "smear guard" means as I have found that applying the highlighter to wet ink does in fact smear it. Overall, good highlighters I would buy them again.
4PINK markers hard to find. These worked.Ordered a full box of PINK only markers. Packaging was bent and crinkled when they arrived, and since they were for a gift, that was somewhat disappointing. They were for a grandchild who always uses up her pink markers first, and this was only way to find all pink markers, even though not typically designed for 4-year olds. ;) The box wasn't an issue for her, just looked "used" but Sharpie quality as expected.
4Almost perfectI bought these mainly because all other brands I have tried tend to fade within a few months on most paper qualities. I am a PHD student and tend to revisit books I have read months and years ago. In this regard, these highlighters are simply the best. The downside and the reason why I do not rate with five stars is that their cylindrical design is quite annoying. The cap keeps rolling to the edge of the table, and the highlighter itself requires positioning to use. On the flat-body highlighters, the holding comes natural and the tip is angled correctly without doing anything. This may seem like a minor issue, but when you read loads of books and papers, and you keep highlighting to a great extent, this 'minor' design issue starts eating up time and patience.
4Sharpie highlighterThese tank highlighters are great. We buy boxes at a time. Never have a problem with dried out markers. Sometimes the boxes are crushed and the markers are all over but surprisingly never damaged. They last longer than other brands we have tried.
5NOT as advertised. The description states "Fluorescent Pink, ...NOT as advertised. The description states "Fluorescent Pink, Fluorescent Yellow, Fluorescent Green, Fluorescent Orange, Lavender and Blue". I need all of those colors and expected 2 of each. Instead, 1 ugly yellow, 3 bright yellow, 3 pink, 2 blue and 1 green. No Lavender.
1Uneven distribution of colorsI bought three 12 packs for an art project I wanted to do with my kids at school. Thinking there are 4 colors in the pack, I (wrongly) assumed that there would be 3 of each color. The 2 colors I need the most were green and blue, as I already had plenty of pink and yellow at school. In each of the 3 boxes, I received two blue markers and one green marker. The markers seem to have good color, but I wish the colors had been more evenly distributed within each box. Also, there are 5 colors in the box: pink, orange, yellow, blue and green.
3Different colors. Really likeGot these to highlight parts of a book on Lymphedema to use different colors for different info. Advised Amazon that carton came with some missing. Was pleasantly surprised when they replaced the whole pack. I just don't press too hard, and color don't leak thru page.
5I love sharpies!I've never had sharpies before because I thought that highlighting is one of the least efficient ways of learning, but I realized in the end that I need a better way to organize information when I take notes or write, and that highlighting could make stand out the information I need to find easier. Anyway, I love them! I got exactly what the product description said I would, the blue is not very dark, but the green is a little darker (it works well if you highlight black text only), they are not fluorescent except for the neon one which can't help it, and the colors are lovely!
550% Less Ink, Brownish Instead Of Orange, Bad FlowWe go through a lot of orange highlighters, and Sharpie Fluorescent Orange USED to be the best of the bunch (prior to Fall 2014).First, they now give us about 50% of the ink that used to be in each marker, so you run out REALLY fast. This has been true of the last several boxes we've ordered, so it doesn't appear to be a mis-manufactured run but rather intent on the part of Sharpie.Second, the color is no longer orange for the "Fluorescent Orange" markers. It's now a dark brownish orange and quite visibly different from the markers manufactured earlier in 2014 and before. We want the true orange color for our purposes and these no longer do the job. Finally, they've changed the ink formulation in addition to the ink color. The liquid ink no longer lays down a smooth line when you run it across the paper. Even on cheap 20 lb. copy paper the ink "bubbles" around the edges almost as if the paper was repelling the ink. This occurs on all kinds of paper from many different paper manufacturers, so it's not the paper causing this.Apparently all these attributes are part of cost-cutting by Sharpie. Too bad. They used to be the absolute best and now we can't use them at all. We've tried Hi-Liter brand orange markers, which do retain the fluorescent orange color, but lay down far too much ink so it nearly always bleeds through even on relatively heavy paper. Our search for a good replacement goes on . . .
15 starsIt's as described. I would purchase this again.I'm only writing this because Amazon won't let me just rate purchases by stars anymore... which makes me not want to rate purchases as often as I did in the past.
