Bad design--Sleeve that holds name tag is a hinderance
These scissors are designed with a little plastic sleeve that swings open for you to put in a little paper with your child's name written on it. Handy, given these may end up going to school with your kid. Sadly, the sleeve design is such that when you open and close the scissors (like, to cut), the plastic sleeve swings open too and the paper(s) for your kids' name fly out! The scissors themselves also feel pretty stiff. Major disappointment and I'm sending them back. I will be ordering the Fiskars instead. They're more expensive but we own a pair already and they are high quality.
1Better pairs are available
These were really tight to operate esp for a little hand. And the name tag holder is pointless. As soon as you move the scissors to open them, the plastic part moved around. Luckily amazon refunded me. I did later determine that if I ripped off the plastic name holder and used a screwdriver to loosen them a bit, they worked ok. But, a buyer should not have to do that! Giving two stars because they cut fine after my adjustments.
2Love these scissors for my nephew (5yrs) and niece (3yrs)
Love these scissors for my nephew (5yrs) and niece (3yrs). I made them little art kits for Christmas and these were the perfect addition to it. They even used them to open the ribbons of the other Christmas presents they received. My nephew had other scissors before but complaint that they would not cut properly, now he is happy to has a pair of art scissors.
5These are the best toddler/kid scissors I have come across
These are the best toddler/kid scissors I have come across. I have bought many toddler scissors and most of them are cheap and hard to cut with. I know it's for safety issues, but my son ended up being frustrated by the cheaper ones that don't cut. These are sharp enough without being dangerous and he can cut much more precisely than with other kids scissors.I would say for a child 3 and over, these scissors are perfect.
5Not for little ones
The finger holds are way too big for small hands and big enough for an adult to use comfortably. When I bought these I assumed they would have smaller holds - I'm thinking the designers have no idea of how small kids' fingers are.
2Great for cutting, but ...
I purchased 2 of these for my grandsons. We are happy with the way they cut. However, the clear cover that is intended to hold the child's name does not remain in place. When it is placed in the closed position, it rotates into the open position with the first use of the scissors and it remains open - in the way. We are going to try to super glue that piece permanently into the closed position without gluing the scissors permanently closed.
4NOT FOR LEFTIES
I searched for left handed scissors & these were in the top of the list of options. I didn't think for a second that they weren't for lefties. I quickly skimmed over the reviews & most were positive. The price was unbeatable for 2 pairs of scissors. I guess they will go to my son's classroom as it's not worth the hassle of returning them. Hopefully amazon can get these to stop coming up when searching for left handed scissors because I see I'm not the only parent that had the issue.
3Not great for surgical tape but safe...
I bought these for cutting surgical paper tape to travel with as my surgical shears have pointed, very sharp tips. Because I m using them to secure a drain sponge around a gastric tube, I didn t want to possibly stab myself and need a stitch, adding drama to a vacation. The 2 measuring feature is a great idea but they aren t very sharp. Probably perfect for children.
4Perfect scissors for young children
I purchased it for my 2 years old. I read some reviews said they do not cut well but they are actually cutting well. (But I let my child to cut only papers)The size of the scissors are perfect size for the little hands. My child is able to hold them and open/close smoothly.I highly recommend this scissors for young children.
5Great for teachers
I bought these to use in my classroom, because we often use multiple different writing utensils during my small groups. This make it easy to distribute and store pens, markers, pencils, and highlighters. I love that the cups come out, but that they store away so nicely. The plastic is thick, so I don't have to worry about the kids cracking them.
